DEA Issues Policy Statement Allowing Prescriptions for 90-Day Supply of Schedule II Drugs "Where Medically Appropriate"

Physicians are allowed to write prescriptions for schedule II drugs with a "do not fill until" date for up to a 90-day supply during a single office visit, where medically appropriate, according to the October 2006 issue of Pain Management. A policy statement was also issued on supporting the principle of balance between relieving pain and avoiding abuse.
