Excess Fat Increases Risk for Migraine Headaches

Researchers at the American Academy of Neurology have discovered overweight individuals have an increased risk for experiencing migraine headaches.  The study concluded that 37% of overweight women between the ages of 20 and 55 experienced migraines.   This is greater than 29% of normal weighing women, ages 20 to 55, who experienced migraines.  Men between the ages of 20 and 55 years were also at an increased risk for migraines.  20% of overweight males experienced migraines, whereas only 16% experienced them.
