Dr. Husted has practiced clinical psychology for 43 years, the last 30 in western Minnesota. He has been licensed by the Minnesota Board of Psychology since 1978. He also taught psychology at the University of MN, Morris for 29 years, retiring in 2007. Among his many professional honors are an honorary tribal membership in the Sisseton- Wahpeton Dakota tribe, which was given in 1988 and a University of Minnesota Distinguished Teaching Award which he received in 2003. He was one of two University of Minnesota teachers to receive that award in 2003. Dr. Husted has published over 30 papers in National and International journals, mostly studying psychotherapy and how to improve it. A 2006 publication in the Journal of Rural

Mental Health, he developed a new therapy called “Identity Change”, which focused directly on the rehabilitation of individuals with chronic medical problems.

In his 40 plus years in active clinical psychology he has treated thousands of individuals with mental health problems. Many of these also had issues of chronic pain management. His theories and clinical practices has brought relief and hope to many of these individuals.
